Tribute to Leonard Nimoy

Spock,_2267 (1)  Being Trekkies, we knew him as the almost always logical half human, half Vulcan First Officer,  Lieutenant Commander Spock, whose comments could make some either groan or laugh, depending on the episode.  But Leonard Nimoy was more that just a actor.  He was a director, photographer, poet, singer and song writer.  His role as Spock is the one he will be remembered most for.

He was born on March 26, 1931 in Boston Massachusetts, to Dora and Max Nimoy.  The started acting at the tender of a eight in community theaters.  He didn’t make his Hollywood debut until age 20, doing bit parts in Queen for a day and Rhubarb, both in 1951.  After serving two years in the United States Army, he returned to doing small, often uncredited parts in various movies.  He played the part of Narab in Zombies of the Stratosphere, a role that would prove to be similar to his Star Trek role. In 1965, he played the character of Mr Spock in “The Cage” his character was suppose to be martian.  He wasn’t first officer in that one, although I do remember watching “The Cage” the way it was made and then part of “The Menagerie”.

He played Spock from 1966 to 1969 in the original show and also on the various movies   I will admit one of my favorites was the new Star Trek from 2009, where  Zachary Quinto played the Spock roll and had Spock there from another time

At the beginning of this tribute, I did mention that Leonard Nimoy was a photographer, something I actual hadn’t realized till after his passing.  What I was impressed with was The Full Body Product, showing women at all shapes and sizes.  Here’s the link to the site for his photoscolor_nimoy_headshot

Well, you’ve made it to the end of my tribute.  I’m sure I could have gone into so much more about this amazing man but I do hope you enjoyed my tribute to Leonard Nimoy.
